Here is a list of the questions we get asked most. If you can’t find an answer to your question, feel free to contact us on 0845 686 0619 or email us at email@example.com
Can you provide me with more information on the hotels you use?
We are partnered with several apartment companies as well as 3 and 4 star hotels. We use only city centre hotels and apartments. We continuously update our selection based on past groups’ experiences and on new hotel/apartment entrants to the market. We know the hotel managers and can ensure that you get exactly what you pay for.
What’s the difference between 3 star and 4 star?
Apartments – Three star apartments are very basic in furnishings, functional and clean. Four star apartments generally have nicer (deluxe) furnishings and many have balconies or terraces. Both categories are excellently located. Neither include breakfast.
Hotels – Our budget 3 star hotel category simply means that you will be sharing triple or quad rooms and breakfast is not included. Both three and four star hotels have all the usual amenities – TVs, breakfast, restaurant and bar. Three star hotel rooms are usually very basic, and may not have WiFi or a very good selection of TV channels. Our 4 star “superior” category refers to hotels that are a step above with more variety of rooms, nicer interiors, fitness facilities. Our 4 star “deluxe” category refers to hotels that are one more step above that, offering more amenities, more variety at breakfast, nicer fitness facilities and sauna, jacuzzi and swimming pool. The rooms are more spacious and really nicely furnished. All the hotels we use are in super, central locations.
Should I bring Euros then?
No, both Budapest and Krakow have their own currencies and places that take Euros will do so at ripoff rates. Just bring your cash point card. Withdrawing local curreny from a cash point machine in your destination will give you the best exchange rate.
Should I exchange money before I travel to Hungary/Poland?
No! You will get the worst exchange rate at home. Wait until you get here – the best option is using your card to withdraw cash from a cash machine, but exchanging money at any change stand is okay too. Except at the airport. And NEVER change money with anyone who approaches you on the street.
What are your payment terms?
A deposit of 200 GBP or 25% is required to hold the booking and guarantee pricing and availability. The deposit is payable by credit card or bank transfer. For credit card payments, please call us on 0845 686 0619.
The remaining balance is due in cash (Bank of England GBP) on the first day of your arrival. If you choose to pay the balance by credit card, we can only take credit card payment if it is six working days or more in advance of your weekend. We guarantee 100% financial security, see next question.
What type of financial security can you offer?
We are fully certified members of the UK’s Travel Trust Association and are accountable to them. We offer 100% financial protection through the TTA, so your money is safe.
Flights and Visas
Do you handle flights as well?
Sorry, we don’t. We will meet you at the airport with a bottle of bubbly, though! We suggest using SkyScanner to find the best deals on flights to Budapest/Krakow. We always use it when we fly to the UK, or anywhere else for that matter.
How long are flights from the UK ?
Direct from London to Budapest and Krakow are just less than two and a half hours.
Do I need a visa?
Citizens of the United Kingdom and Ireland, and all other EU countries, travelling for any other purpose besides employment, immigration or studies, do not need a visa for up to 90 days stay in Hungary or Poland. If you’re from elsewhere in the world then please check with your local embassy just to make sure.
What are your cancellation fees?
– Cancellations are free until confirmation of payment of deposit.
– Your deposit is non-refundable
– Cancellations made within one month and up to 15 days before your arrival – a cancellation fee of 50% of the total cost will be charged
– Cancellations made within 14 before your arrival – a cancellation charge of 100% of total cost will be charged
– Your credit card will be charged in the event that you fail to arrive or fail to pay in full
– Your credit card will also be charged in the event you fail to show up or refuse to pay for any pre-booked activities or weekend packages during your stay.
What happens if I change my booking?
– Changes are free until confirmation of payment and of deposit. Please note: after the changes are applied to your booking, your quoted price will be recalculated based on the current prices on our website on the date your changes are confirmed.
– If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to alter your itinerary arrangements in any way we will do our best to help, providing that we receive written notification from the person who made the booking no less than 45 days before the original date of departure.
– Please note that if the number of persons in a booking changes, the travel prices will be recalculated on the basis of the amended party size. Also note: if your activities change, your total price will be recalculated based on current prices on our website on the date your changes are confirmed.
About Hen Nation Holidays
What is it you do again?
We take all the hassle out of planning a fabulous hen weekend abroad with your friends by giving the best customer service and the best local knowledge. Take a look at the hen party packages and hen activities on offer, pick and choose what you want, and then all you have to do is get here. We’ll take care of the rest!
Do we have to book hotels AND activities with you, or can it be just one or the other?
Either or both, whichever you prefer.
Will we get stuck with other hen or stag tours?
Of course not. You will always get your own local guide for any activity that you book with us and your own bus, if it’s included with the activity.
Does my visit have to be over a weekend? Can’t I come mid-week?
You can arrange your trip for any time of the week and any time of the year.
Can I book my trip for extra days?
You can come for as long as you like.
What time do activities start?
It’s up to you. They can start at or after 12 noon, unless otherwise specified.
How many people can I bring? Is there a minimum?
In general minimum group size is between 8-10 people, but this is specified in each activity listed. There is usually no maximum. Group discounts start at 16 people.
About Hen Nation
So basically you’re like a tour operator?
Well, yes and no. We don’t lead groups around like children and tell them when they’re supposed to eat lunch. What we do is listen to what you want, and then make it happen. Plus we get you excellent rates on hotels!
Let me guess: you take groups around to dodgy bars, and you get a percentage, that’s how you make your money, right?
Wrong! We’re in nobody’s pockets with regards to pub crawls. We suggest where to go based solely on the merit of a place and based on what type of places a group would like to visit. We really actually tailor the nightlife tour to you.
How did you end up in Eastern Europe?
Please consult the seminal essay on expat living in Eastern Europe: “Cheap Beer Attracts Them, or, University Never Ends”
How long have you been doing this?
We’re now heading into our twelfth year in the business! We have, it should be said, been getting drunk in Eastern Europe for much longer than that.
So, you just get pissed every weekend and get paid for it? What do you do during the week?
We research wine bars and restaurants, of course.
Hen Nation and Stag Republic are Wildcat Enterprises Ltd companies. Wildcat Enterprises Ltd is a registered British company backed by the Travel Trust Association.
In what other countries do you work?
We can help you throughout Central Europe. We have operations in Budapest, Krakow, Bratislava and Riga.
What other types of trips do you run?
We arrange trips for all types of groups – corporate, sports, family weekends, retirees, gay groups – and group tours really.
About Eastern Europe
Whoa. Sounds like Eastern Europe is the sort of place where I’ll wake up to find one of my kidneys missing.
No, no, not at all. Sure, you see dodgy stuff aimed at tourists here and there, a bit more so than in Western European cities, but by and large it’s a fairly lawful and honest place. Violent crime here is rare, too, much rarer than in the UK.
How much does stuff cost?
Food, drink, and entertainment generally costs about one-quarter to one-half what it does in the UK (at time of writing).
Why can’t I just plan and arrange this myself?
There’s no reason why you can’t – it might take you a while, though, and planning a group weekend the DIY way does have its risks. This is Eastern Europe, after all, and things aren’t always quite so reliable. We’ve seen it all. Your “central three-star hotel” could turn out to be a fleabag motel on the outskirts of town. You could get ripped off all weekend by randomly-hailed cabbies. Worst of all, you might end up at bars, clubs and restaurants that suck! By booking with Hen Nation – and relying on our years of experience here – you rule out having to worry about these sorts of things.
